Discussion:
1.) Landscape Ordinance - We have been working on a landscape ordinance for some
time. We do not currently have one for commercial areas. We really do not require any
buffering. What we currently get comes with the annexation agreement or PUD.
Homeowners are required to put in one tree per lot and two per corner lot. In other than
residential areas a tree is required every 50 feet, A lot of communities do layers. Like one
layer would be a screen. There are different requirements for parking lots. Parking lots
would require a landscaoped island every so many spaces. We could maybe consider this
for industrial parking lots_ The heaviest screening would be a commercial area backing up
to a residential area. This proposed ordinance requires less then Oswego because
Nanninga wanted to make sure we were not requiring too much. We will need to identify
what trees are allowable. With this proposed ordinance we are trying to address different
areas. Mayor Prochaska suggest further discussion with Mike Shoppe. Nanninga will ask
Mike Schoppe to come to the next Economic Development meeting.
2.) June & July Building Department Report - There have been more single family permits
issued. Take to COW.
3.) Development Report - Discussed development at the intersection of Route 34 and 47.
Also discussed possible development west of White Oak. We would need easements from
the railroad to run City water. The developer is considering 1,800 square foot lots with
septic systems. Nanninga would encourage City sewer. They would need a lift station.
They would need to develop both sides of the railroad tracks. DeuchIer suggested running
sewer along the railroad tracks. Orchard and Route 34 will be competition for Route 34
apd 47.
4.) Additional Business No additional business was discussed.
