Leesa Poss thanked the Mayor and Alderman for voting against the Meyer agenda item.
Caryn Macek, a Yorkville resident, expressed concerns about transparency regarding major development
projects. She stated that residents are relying on rumors, social media, and FOIA requests, which are
costly. Ms. Macek also shared her concern about the impact on infrastructure, schools, utilities, property
values, and public services. She stated that residents were not involved in the process and expressed
concern about communication and complaint handling. Ms. Macck asked that the development process be
slowed.
Mary Jo Klaus, a Yorkville resident, shared her thoughts on City leadership and criticized transparency
and decision -making —particularly regarding the approval and placement of multiple data centers. She
questioned why they are located near key infrastructure and within certain school districts.
Ms. Klaus also shared her concerns about past development decisions, including the water park, land use,
and impacts on property values, taxes, and quality of life. She expressed dissatisfaction with planning,
communication, and responsiveness to residents and schools. She would like to see new Council members
and long-term studies of the environmental and community impacts of major projects such as data
centers.
Olivia Griffin, a high school senior, stated that she does not believe Yorkville needs a data center. She
feels that they are a waste of time and money.
An unnamed resident spoke on transparency. He stated that numerous FOIA requests were filed, resulting
