We had the opportunity to put local business owners through the paces using our VirTra training simulator, giving them a firsthand look at the split-second decision making officers face through realistic, scenario-based training. You all did a fantastic job! On behalf of everyone at the Yorkville Police Department, thank you for the strong partnership you continue to foster with us. We truly appreciate the relationship we share and your ongoing support in making Yorkville such a great community to serve. Facebook Post (July 21, 2026): Back-to-School Safety Tip In Illinois, you must stop when approaching a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended from either direction, unless you’re on the opposite side of a divided highway. Passing a stopped school bus is not only dangerous—it’s against Illinois law and carries significant penalties. Every stop arm is protecting a child. Please stop. Facebook Post (July 22, 2026): Back-to-School Safety Tip Please park responsibly around our schools. Illinois law prohibits parking: • In crosswalks • Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant • In front of driveways • In designated fire lanes or bus loading zones • Where signs prohibit If you have to ask, “Can I park here?”…it’s probably best not to. Facebook Post (July 23, 2026): NO STUDENT PARKING A friendly reminder as we head back to school: There is NO student parking at the Beecher Center or the Yorkville Public Library. Please take a moment to review the attached information and make sure you know where parking is and, just as importantly, where it isn’t. Let’s keep traffic moving, emergency access clear, and our school grounds safe for everyone! Facebook Post (July 24, 2026): We're Hiring! Ready to make a difference? ... it's time to go to work.
