Diane Tealing presented information. A committee called “Yorkville United” has been meeting approximately once a week. They are setting up a Foundation to oversee the finances, which will not be handled by the City of Yorkville; the Committee will handle the monetary donations. There is substantial interest – 7 businesses so far; the goal is to sell total of 30 barrels. Chamber will send out an Email survey to generate some interest. Some businesses will provide their own artists. Norm Johnson, representing the Chamber of Commerce’s Green Committee, explained the procedures to retrofit the rain barrels, which are already delivered to Yorkville. There will be a printed sticker to identify the business sponsor and the artist(s). Dearborn is working on the application. Johnson is working on the materials for retrofitting, Lee is handling publicity. Keane questioned the amount of money that will be from the proceeds from the Go Green Fair, which is handled by the Chamber of Commerce’s Green Committee. Lee confirmed $450.00 loan to the Chamber for the rain barrel project will be reimbursed to the City of Yorkville’s Green Committee account (which is being held by the Chamber of Commerce Green Committee). Johnson questioned whether or not the auction proceeds should be designated to Push for the Path. Discussion followed. Engelhardt suggested that, if the committee decides to do this, a statement of explanation be added to the promotional materials: if the Push for the Path does not reach their goal and the bike path project needs to be stopped, the monetary donations will be directed to both the City of Yorkville Green Committee and the Chamber of Commerce Green Committee. Johnson offered an alternative idea: the sale proceeds go to scholarships for environmental studies. Dearborn stated that the promotion for the Push for the Path would not need to be identified until later in the summer, just before Hometown Days. It was decided through discussion to wait to make a decision regarding the proceeds of the auction. Keane stated that the Green Committee is supportive of the rain barrel project being sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Saturday, June 4, will be a work day for retrofitting the barrels. All Green Committee members are encouraged to help. Lee will Email all to give details about time and place. 3.Green Music Under Stars Cherwin reported.
