th
2.Green Music Under the Stars - July 8
Cherwin reported that this event went really well and was well-attended. Cherwin, Lee, and
Engelhardt attended. Tim Evans told her that he thought it went well and offered to help the Green
Committee next year with this event. Two food vendors, invited by the City, were present. This
event has much potential to grow and develop in the future, with foods, fresh produce, T-shirts
featuring the band, and other environmental businesses.
th
3.Share & Care Recycling Event – Oct 16 Planning Update
Engelhardt reported that Mike Drendel, President of the Kendall County Fairgrounds, requested that
we change our date to Saturday, October 22, due to a possible contract opportunity for the
Fairgrounds. Engelhardt communicated with Bart Olson, who checked the date in the City’s
calendar of events. Olson stated there are no conflicts and the Green Committee may change dates.
Olson also pointed out that there is no one on staff to cover any publicity for this event due to the
elimination of the Public Relations Department. Keane suggested that we ask for all the Green
Committee publicity that is filed in the computer of former employee Glory Spies. Lee motioned to
change the date to October 22. Cherwin seconded. Vote: all yes. Engelhardt motioned that the
time frame be set for 9 – 2, unless BizBoo is scheduled that day, then the time will be 11- 3. Keane
seconded. Vote: all “yes”. Keane will ask Bart Olson to have a City employee “on call” that day.
Engelhardt will contact Marlin Hartman (date and financial support) and the Yorkville Police
Department (use of traffic cones). Keane suggested that Cherwin could help with the distribution
of mini-ads for the seven local banks to use in transactions. Lee suggested that the “re-use” area be
limited to children’s items, toys, and books. Lee suggested that we think about a “challenge” for
students that participate with an incentive, with our committee offering some types of incentives.
One idea, suggested by Lee, is to award a “Class Green Certificate” for having the most signatures of
students who participate (get signatures). Engelhardt will create a task list for our meeting by the
August meeting.

a.Stormwater Management Program Plan
5.Chamber Green Committee – Update
The Rain Barrel project is “going gangbusters”. The Auction for the Rain Barrels will be auctioned
at the Junior Women’s Club Craft Fair on Saturday before Labor Day.

them. Some of the barrels are out in the public/ business locations. Some of the small businesses do
not have a physical location for displaying their barrels. Parks and Rec Department has been
contacted for possible placements at indoor venues for security and so the art work will not be
scuffed.
