Fire and Police Commission Minutes 2011 09-15-11 APPROVED Board of Fire and Police Commission Minutes September 15, 2011 Meeting called to order at 5:05 p.m. Roll Call: Bob Johnson Margie Putzler (Mike Anderson absent as pre-arranged) Also Present: Chief Hart Deputy Chief Hilt Deputy Chief Schwartzkopf Katie Robbins No citizens’ comments. Previous Meeting Minutes: Commissioner Putzler moved to approve the minutes from August 3, 2011 as presented. Commissioner Johnson seconded. Minutes approved. Correspondence: None Executive Session: Commissioner Putzler moved to go into executive session for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. Commissioner Johnson seconded. Roll call: Chairman Johnson yes Commissioner Putzler yes Motion carried. Entered Executive Session at 5:07 p.m. Exited Executive Session at 5:10 p.m. with no formal action taken. New Business: 1-Hiring of New Officers: Commissioner Putzler moved to appoint Zackery Rundlett as Police Officer with the Yorkville Police Department. Commissioner Johnson seconded. Roll call: Chairman Johnson yes Commissioner Putzler yes Motion carried. Commissioner Putzler moved to make Conditional Offers of Employment to both Roman Soebbing and Sara Gerlach. Commissioner Johnson seconded. Roll call: Chairman Johnson yes Commissioner Putzler yes Motion carried. 2-Employee Status: Tabled 3-Sergeants’ Promotional Exam: YPD presented their recommendation to use Resource Management Associates, Incorporated. They have been used before for other testing. This process is within the budget at this time. There is a general positive feeling about this process. Commissioner Putzler moved to utilize Resource Management Associates, Incorporated for the Sergeant Promotional Exam Assessment Center. Commissioner Johnson seconded. Roll call: Chairman Johnson yes Commissioner Putzler yes Motion carried. YPD will keep the BFPC apprised as the process moves forward. Old Business: 1-Budget: IFPCA Conference fees are within the budget this year if the Commissioners wish to attend. 2-Waivers for Power Test: There was a discussion about waivers and options and whether or not we needed to conduct a power test at all. At this point it doesn’t seem necessary to require a power test as part of the hiring process. Next meeting is not yet set. Commissioner Putzler moved to adjourn. Commissioner Johnson seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
