Chairman Lento-Reidy said that Mayor Burd had contacted her and asked what the HRC would
like from the City to maintain members’ interest. The Commission members offered the
following comments:
They would like the Mayor to attend some meetings to show her interest in the
Commission’s activities.
The HRC would like to have funding of $2,500 available for the Sponsorship program, as
requests from the community have increased considerably.
The HRC would like to have a City staff member attend meetings and serve as a liaison
between the City and the Commission.
The HRC would like to see the Historical Street Naming program be a priority with the
City. They feel that developers are not being informed of the requirement to pick street
names for their developments from the approved list of historical street names. The
Commission would like to see 10-20% of streets in new developments named after
individuals on the approved list. The Commission would also like to have an official
dedication ceremony for each person or family for which a street is named in which the
individual or family is provided with a duplicate miniature sign and City flag.
Chairman Lento-Reidy will discuss the Commission’s thoughts with Mayor Burd.
