HRC Minutes 2007 11-28-07 UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE HUMAN RESOURCE COMMISSION COMMITTEE MEETING 804 Game Farm Road / Yorkville, Illinois 60560 MINUTES Date: Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Time: 6:00PM Location: Yorkville Police Department Conference Room Call to order: Chairman Diana Lento-Reidy called the meeting to order at 6:24 p.m. A quorum was established. Members present: Diana Lento-Reidy Jeff Grezlik Cecelia Sanders Madonna Bialek Tom Zerante Dana Jones Alderperson Rose Spears, ex-officio member Guests: None Citizen Comments: None Approval of Minutes: None Committee Reports: None New Business: 1.Senior Citizen’s Program a.Dog Food/Supplies b.Volunteers Alderperson Spears will ask City staff to post a request for volunteers for this program on the City website and in the City newsletter. 2.Senior Community Center A general discussion regarding the need for a senior community center was held. 3.Christmas Wish List A general discussion regarding items needed for donation was held. 4.December HRC Meeting There will be no HRC meeting held in December. 5.Request for Sponsorship – Rolling on the River Donation for Hoover Education Center This item was tabled, as the required sponsorship form had not been submitted at the time of the meeting. Old Business: 1.Historical Street Names – Discuss Plans to Obtain Additional Names The Commission requested a copy of an updated list of approved historical street names. Additional Business: Chairman Lento-Reidy said that Mayor Burd had contacted her and asked what the HRC would like from the City to maintain members’ interest. The Commission members offered the following comments:  They would like the Mayor to attend some meetings to show her interest in the Commission’s activities.  The HRC would like to have funding of $2,500 available for the Sponsorship program, as requests from the community have increased considerably.  The HRC would like to have a City staff member attend meetings and serve as a liaison between the City and the Commission.  The HRC would like to see the Historical Street Naming program be a priority with the City. They feel that developers are not being informed of the requirement to pick street names for their developments from the approved list of historical street names. The Commission would like to see 10-20% of streets in new developments named after individuals on the approved list. The Commission would also like to have an official dedication ceremony for each person or family for which a street is named in which the individual or family is provided with a duplicate miniature sign and City flag. Chairman Lento-Reidy will discuss the Commission’s thoughts with Mayor Burd. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned.
