Integrated Transportation Plan Minutes 2009 10-20-09 United City of Yorkville 800 Game Farm Road Yorkville, Illinois 60560 Telephone: 630-553-4350 Fax: 630-553-7575 Meeting Summary INTEGRATED TRANSPORTATION PLAN IMPLEMENTATION TASK FORCE Tuesday, October 20, 2009 5:00 – 6:00 PM City Hall Council Chambers 800 Game Farm Road Attendees: Gary Golinski, Wally Werderich, Deborah Horaz, Phil Stuepfert, Travis Miller The Task Force suggested the first step for the group would be to review the Goals and projects recommended by the ITP and prioritize the projects based on funding ability, need and difficulty – it was suggested that the ‘low hanging fruit’ projects should be focused upon first as well as those that have little or no cost associated with accomplishing, such as signing/striping bike lanes on existing streets, for example. The Task Force suggested that when dollars are contributed, such as those currently being requested from the Kendallwood Estates developer for trail projects, that those dollars be set aside in a budget line item specific to the project the funds are for. The Task Force requested staff to get an update from the Forest Preserve on their improvement plans for Hoover and other District properties so that the City can plan for connections where feasible into the District trail systems. The Task Force discussed long-term maintenance concerns for the trail system and suggested that policies regarding issues such as snow removal, repaving, signage will need to be determined as the trail system is implemented. Connections between existing developments and trail/sidewalk systems was discussed. The Task Force recalled this to be a major part of the ITP purpose initially and discussed creating an inventory similar to the sidewalk gap exhibit in the ITP, which only covers the downtown area, for the entire City. The Task Force suggested that future meetings be limited to 1 hour in length and asked Miller to provide a verbal update to the City Council of Task Force progress during the Director’s report at future City Council meetings. 5:00 PM Tuesday November 17, 2009 Next Meeting Date:
