Fire & Police Commission Minutes 2008 07-23-08 Board of Fire and Police Commission APPROWED Minutes July 23, 2008 Meeting called to order at 6:01 p.m. Roll Call: Margie Putzler Mike Anderson Bob Johnson Also Present: Lt. Schwartzkopf Chief Martin Katie Robbins Previous Meeting Minutes: Commissioner Putzler moved to approve the minutes from June 23,2008 as presented. Commissioner Anderson seconded. Minutes approved. Bills for payment: None Old Business: Update on Promotional Testing *Chief reports that the written test is being developed. YPD has had input in regards to the questions—including information on the rules,regulations, and other related material. Officers have been notified of the date,time and tentative place of the testing. (Tentatively set for YHS.) They have also been given a list of reading materials to study and prepare for the testing procedure, giving them two months to prepare themselves. *Are letters of intent filed to take the test? No—officers can just show up at the time and place to take the test. *Katie will create a list of who is eligible for both promotions and give to the BFPC. *Does BFPC need to be present at the test? Not required. The testing service handles everything. Bob Johnson plans on being there. *Do we want to set a pass/fail score? hi the past we have not had a passing score. General consensus is to keep the policy as it is—with no pass/fail scores for the written exam. *As per Rules and Regulations page 10,the written test will be worth 40%,the oral interview will be worth 50%, and the Chief's points are worth 10%. We will need to meet in August to prepare questions for the Oral Interview. Review questions from past procedures Chief will come up with some questions BFPC will add and delete items Bob Johnson will pull questions from the State Police Lt. Schwartzkopf will do `research' and also have some suggestions Next meeting will be August 18,2008 at 6:30pm. BFPC would like to use the City Conference Room for this Executive Session. Commissioner Anderson moved to adjourn. Commissioner Putzler seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
