HRC Minutes 2008 06-18-08 APPNOVED i� c ., UNITED CITY OF YORKVIL,L,E HUMAN RESOURCE COMMISSION COMMITTEE MEETING Police Department Conference Room 800 Game Farm Road Yorkville IL 60560 Wednesday, June 18, 2008 Committee Members Present: Police Dept. Representative Tom Zerante Lt. Don Schwartzkopf Diana Lento-Riedy Cecelia Sanders City Representative Dana Jones Ald. Joe Plocher Meeting Called to Order by President Diana Lento-Riedy at 6:05 p,m. Quorum established. Ald, Plocher related that Mayor Burd will be appointing two new members to the Commission at the Tuesday City Council meeting. He had no further information on them. He also related that Glory Spies will be sending out letters, photos and map directions when the brown Historical Signs are put up. It was asked if she could send them to the person (if living), and to family and also the nominator(if it is other than the family members). Tom asked, since we would still be down one member after the new appointments, if consideration might be given to getting a disabled person, or a student, as we had at one time, There is representation now from the senior population and the younger parent generation, but these other perspectives might also be helpful. Ald, Plocher mentioned the AID office might be of some help. Introduction of Guests: None Citizen Comments: None Approval of Minutes from the May 21, 2008 meeting. Tom made a motion to accept, Diana seconded. Approved. Committee Reports: Police Dept. —Lt. Schwartzkopf handed out newsletters reminding people to lock their car doors. Too many thefts have been occurring. New Business: The Appointment of new members was previously discussed. Determination of Direction of HRC - Cecelia mentioned the Volunteer Registry that was once started, as well as a Resource Directory of services and programs available in Yorkville. Lt. Schwartzkopf stated that they gets many calls for information, and also have people stopping in to ask where places such as the Public Aid office are located. They also have seasonal questions, such as where the July 4°i Parade and Activities are held and where people can park for the fireworks. Diana said she could bring her laptop and start to get some entries. Cecelia said that she has several such booklets from Kane County and many of those agencies also serve Kendall County, so that is a start. L,t. Schwartzkopf said that he didn't know that there was a Kendall County Coalition of Neighbors and that Operation Push is also active in the county. There have been several instances lately where both agencies were brought in to help in a neighborhood situation that has been on-going for some time. Items for Next Meeting Agenda: Members should bring in information on social service agencies and programs. Additional Business: None Adjournment: Diana made a motion to adjourn, Dana seconded.
